• Environment Courts Act, 2010
• Heavy Corrosive Substances (Control) Rules, 2004
• Noise Pollution (Control) Rules, 2006
• Medical Waste Management Rules, 2008
• Environment Threatened Area Management Rules, 2016
• Bangladesh Biodiversity Act, 2017
• SROs issued on matters of public importance including declaration of ecologically sensitive areas, stoppage of hill cutting, banning of polythene.
Among the activities that Directorate of Environment, Munshiganj conducts on a regular basis are:
1. Survey of industries, identification of polluting industries and encouraging/compelling the concerned industries to take pollution control measures.
2. Taking action regarding environmental pollution and disposing of it through investigation
3. Monitoring of untreated or treated liquid effluents of industrial plants, noise, air quality and gaseous emissions of vehicles.
4. Mobile court management
5. Issuance of environmental clearance in favor of industrial plants or projects as per Bangladesh Environment Protection Act, 1995 (Amended 2010) and Environment Protection Rules, 2023 for controlling environmental pollution.
6. Taking legal action against production and marketing of banned polythene shopping bags
7. Taking appropriate measures to control greenhouse gas emissions
8. Creating public awareness about environment.
